EOS-503

What is EOS-503?

EOS-503 is a browser-based game for teaching and assessing educator problem solving, built around a combination of contemporary learning theory and instructional technology integration skills. Players explore a fictional space station, hone their communication skills, and overcome richly-authentic challenges grounded in the TPACK model and ISTE Standards. Josh’s studio was hired by the University of Connecitcut through their educational technologies program to build the project in conjunction with their PhD candidates.

Role

Josh served as the project manager on the game, and functioned as the member responsible for communication with the product owners. He worked through them to ensure that the project was meeting the department’s goals of design, development, and education. He translated the needs of the university into goals and tasks for the development team to accomplish. From here he functioned as a project manager.

EOS-503 went on to a warm public reception in the games education space, being nominated for awards at Games for Change, and the James Paul Gee Games & Learning Awards. The project would also go on to be featured at several expositions, such as ConnectiCon, CT Festival of Indie Games, RPI GameFest, Frontiers in Playful Learning, and several other local festivals.
