Scrapshoot
What is Scrapshoot?
Scrapshoot is a local multiplayer couch arena battler where you battle it out in the junkyard. Players collect scrap as it falls from the sky and give it to bots on their side of the field. Most scrap is normal and just helps to repair the bots, but some of the items falling from the sky are special, and will power up your bots. Send your bots down the line until you break your enemy’s barricade and achieve victory.
Role
Josh wore many hats while working on Scrapshoot. The game began as an entry to the Global Game Jam 2020, which he worked on with several of his friends. His role was primarily to manage and coordinate the team, and funciton as the member who would put all the pieces together. He would go on to focus mainly on development. This was the first project which all of the members of Pyrebug worked on together. After a very successful game jam together, the group decided to build out the game as much as they could. They eventually polished it and released it on Steam in October of 2021.
Scrapshoot has remained a part of the games space in New York and Connecticut, appearing at GUMBO, NYU, Wonderville, ConnectiCon, and several other spaces. Scrapshoot remains near and dear to the hearts of all the team members as one of the first projects they shipped. In 2021, Scrapshoot was nominated for Community Choice at the Connecticut Festival of Indie Games, as well as Best in Design at the RPI GameFest.
